Our Story
Cedonia Community Church was established in 1897 by the first families to settle
in what is now southwest Stevens County, Washington. When these early pioneers came together to
found their church, they searched for a name for their new community and chose
Cedonia — a shortened form of Macedonia, drawn from
Acts 16:9, where the Apostle Paul received a vision of a man calling out:
“Come over to Macedonia and help us.” — Acts 16:9
From its very beginning, the church was built and dedicated as a Union Church
— a place where people of all denominations could gather together in the name of Jesus.
That spirit of welcome has never changed.
For more than 125 years, Cedonia Community Church has served as the heart of spiritual life
in the Hunters area. The original 1897 building still stands on the property today, now housing
classrooms and offices. The larger sanctuary serves a warm congregation of families, neighbors,
and friends who gather each Sunday to worship together.
